The Verdict is In!
By ESB on July 29, 2009.

The jury—you, our wonderful readers—has reported about the highly controversial Kindle, and the response is nearly unanimous:  Those of you who have Kindles can’t imagine ever going back to a traditional book.

One of my former students, Mieke Duxbury, is a young working mom, and she said that there would be no way she could lug around a book, even a paperback, in the baby bag that’s always attached to her and  her little one, Max.  She said that because the Kindle’s so light and takes up no room whatsoever, she can read whenever she has a chance.  She’s addicted to her Kindle.

Lisa Frye,  a young working mom (Matt is two and the twins are four months old) commutes to work, and she uses her Kindle to read her daily newspapers.  Lisa has subscriptions on her Kindle, and its weight (or lack thereof) is a significant feature.  She said that she doesn’t have to deal with folding a paper.  Can you imagine—with her busy schedule—she took the time to let me know about her strong Kindle feelings?

Ken Asher tapped me on the shoulder the other night, and when I turned around, he had a huge grin on his face and said, “I love my Kindle!”  These are just a few examples of all of the favorable Kindle responses.
The only unfavorable response was from my friend Joan Petrilli who doesn’t own a Kindle and said she’d never give up her traditional books.  We’ll see!

Cai, who didn't weigh in on the first discussion, is officially throwing her vote pro-Kindle, though she admits that she'll never give up good old paper books -please!? Who would do that? She has, to date only had a one night stand with a borrowed Kindle,  and loved being able to read in bed without having to throw a t-shirt over the bedside lamp to dim the room... brilliant!

So there you have it! I'll close with a shamless plug: As you know, you can purchase your Kindle through our website—and the price reduction (to $299, from $349) is very appealing now.
